Feature updates and new content for courses

With less than 100 days til the start of A Level season, Up Learn has launched new content and features to support students and teachers. There is a new report to help teachers identify how classes are performing, as well as huge improvements and new content in Biology, Psychology, and Maths.

Introducing the Performance view

What is it?

Performance view provides you with a comprehensive snapshot of your students’ performance, so you can track their progress in one place. It’s a great way to monitor scores over time and stay on top of where each student is in their learning journey and where the class at large is struggling. This new feature allows teachers to quickly understand problem areas for the class at large and identify students who are struggling across a lot of sections.

Benefits

  • Reviewing class performance is sped up; previously there was no place to review the performance of all students across all sections
  • Easy to identify sections that need to be taught in class again
  • Better insight into individual student performance and enables quick access to drill downs into their specific mistakes

How to find the Performance Page:

We’ve added a new page under the top-level navigation on the teacher dashboard. Other pages in the dashboard will also signpost to this feature. If you’re in doubt – click on the chat icon on the screen and customer service will be able to answer any queries.

Biology

There have been two major improvements to Biology this academic year. Firstly, recall quizzes were revamped, with hundreds added, covering all topics in the specification. These quizzes were made easier for students to find and the great news for teachers is that all topics can be set as assignments.

Since the start of 2025, significant updates have been made to Biology – with detailed lessons added to several topics, namely:

  • Mitosis and the Cell Cycle
  • HIV and the ELISA test (AQA)
  • The Human Heart
  • Gas Exchange in Fish
  • Gas Exchange in Insects
  • Meiosis
  • Controlling Resting Heart Rate
  • Regulating Blood Glucose Concentration
  • Genetic Fingerprinting (AQA)
  • DNA Profiling (OCR)

The great news is there is more fresh content coming before April this year.

Psychology

Summaries have been added to three Paper 3 topics: Relationships, Eating Behaviour and Forensic Psychology. As a reminder, for Paper 3, each of our Practice Exam Papers has questions on each of these topics.

Physics

100 new lessons in total have been released in AQA Physics. The new lessons can be found in the Required Practicals and Astrophysics sections – both can be found in the Paper 3 module.

Maths

Edexcel Maths has seen significant improvement to usability and content. Up Learn’s Section Quiz feature, has had over 2000 brand new diagnostic questions added. These new questions have been carefully designed to test students’ existing knowledge on a more granular level than ever before.

The quizzes also have routing rules that are more forgiving than previous Section Quiz questions. This means that more students will be able to skip content that they already know, and complete their maths assignments more efficiently. Schools are already seeing dramatic improvements in Section completion from students making use of these new questions.
