5 Benefits for Teachers of Up Learn’s New Functionality.

Overwhelming workloads, time constraints, inadequate tools or resources, and more – we understand the challenges teachers face every day. That’s why since the start of this academic year, we’ve made it our mission to upgrade the Up Learn platform with a series of updates based on our teachers’ feedback. Here are 5 key ways these platform improvements are game-changing for teachers.

With Up Learn, teachers can now…

  1. Track student progress at a glance
  2. Spot and fix knowledge gaps quicker
  3. Save time on adminstrative tasks
  4. Encourage smarter, more efficient independent learning
  5. Help students retain and recall better
Up Learn’s Updates This Academic Year

Sound good? Here’s the detail…

1. Track Student Progress At a Glance

Monitoring student performance – especially with larger classes – can be a difficult task.

With our new Performance Page, you can easily access a comprehensive snapshot of performance and progress, all in one place. It’s a great way to track scores over time and stay on top of where each student, and the class at large, is in their learning journey. For even deeper insights, you can download custom CSV reports for in-depth analysis or report card creation.

So, whatever your analysis needs, the Teacher dashboard provides clear, real-time insights into student progress to help you track, monitor and intervene where necessary.

“As the Head of Sixth Form, having the school dashboard at hand is remarkable… The insight I gain regarding the students’ working habits is great.”

Charlotte Burton, Tupton Hall School

2. Spot and Fix Knowledge Gaps Quicker

Identifying where students are struggling can take up valuable time, especially when you’re dealing with multiple classes or cohorts.

You can now identify common mistakes being made by your class using our new Section Insights feature, allowing you to focus class time on where most students are struggling. Then dig deeper into each individual’s specific problem area using Mistakes Overview, helping teachers to pinpoint knowledge gaps at an early stage, allowing effective intervention with extra practice or tailored support.

“Subject staff can see the areas where a pupil is strongest and weakest…Up Learn can empower a holistic approach to tracking student progress, staging interventions where necessary and celebrating successes.”

Beth Dawson, Sutton High

3. Save Time on Administrative Tasks

Time constraints are one of the biggest challenges facing teachers currently. We know teachers are time-poor, and administrative tasks are eating up precious hours.

That’s why we’ve made major improvements to our Assignments features, streamlining the process of setting, tracking and managing assignments. We’ve introduced a new Assignments Page – a central hub where you can easily track the status of all the assignments you’ve set for your classes – past, present and future.

We’ve also made other Assignment updates, so you can now

  • Preview assignments before sending them to students
  • See estimated completion times before setting deadlines
  • Assign work to multiple classes at once
  • Edit deadlines and track completion more easily
  • And much more!

These updates reduce admin workload for teachers, freeing up more time to focus on lessons and supporting students.

“It saves teachers valuable time. Rather than spending precious time thinking of quality homework tasks, our teachers can simply set students off to complete a series of exercises on Up Learn that evening.”

Katharine Birbalsingh CBE, Michaela Community School

4. Encourage Smarter, More Efficient Independent Learning

Engaging students in independent study is always a challenge – especially when it comes to ensuring they study efficiently. That’s why we’ve introduced Smart Learning features, like our revamped Section Quizzes, which allow students to skip content they’ve already mastered and focus on what they actually need to learn.

With these platform improvements, schools using Up Learn can be confident that their students’ independent study is now more enjoyable, targeted and efficient. As a result, teachers are reporting that students are coming to classes more engaged and prepared, enabling teachers to run more interactive, discussion-based classes.

“Those victories and wins [on Up Learn] make the students so much more engaged and make them enjoy the course a lot more. ”

Henry Winters, Excelsior Academy

5. Help Students Retain and Recall Better

Many students struggle with long-term retention, which means more time in class spent reviewing content that should already be mastered.

This is where our new Smart Learning functionality features come to the rescue. Refresh Knowledge creates personalised quizzes from content across the whole course, tailored to students’ weaker topics or content they’ve not studied recently. Meanwhile, Strengthen creates quizzes for specific sections, and recommends activities based on the questions the student gets wrong.  These features help students to revise, reinforcing their understanding and allowing them to retain information for longer.

With stronger recall, students need less re-teaching, allowing teachers to plan more creative and impactful lessons, focused on deeper learning and problem-solving.

“This is an excellent knowledge recall toll that can aid pupils to solidify their knowledge and understanding.”

Alex McDonald, Monkton Combe School
