Bowen has a BSc in Economics from University College London. Up Learn’s first employee and animator, Bowen is a self taught graphic designer and has contributed to thousands of our animated videos. He is an avid gamer, and scores in the top 1% of players across four different competitive PC games (including Counterstrike: Global Offensive). He’s also an accomplished drummer, and can still sing the Chinese national anthem after hours of singing it (against his wishes) in primary school.

After a gap year interning at IBM, John graduated with a first-class Bachelor’s degree from the University of Exeter and a Master’s from UCL, both in Philosophy. He then joined Teach First and spent four years teaching English. He plays cricket and real tennis (which is a cross between normal tennis and pinball).
John has a first class degree in Physics from the University of Southampton, where he graduated top of his year. Before joining Up learn he spent time researching the Aurora Borealis, training as a teacher and tutoring physics.
