Half Term Feature and Content Updates
It has been a busy six weeks at Up Learn, with more schools and more students signing up to the platform than ever before! In this half term alone 310,000 assignments have been set and a whopping 66% of teachers have responded saying that they love our new assignment setting features.
The development and content teams have also been hard at work, improving and creating new features to make Up Learn even more useful to schools and teachers.
There are improvements being made to A Level Biology and the launch of new tools to help teachers understand their student performance and make changes to their cohort.
1. Improved Visibility
Following some great feedback during these last 6 weeks, we’ve improved the teacher dashboards for teachers – enabling better visibility of student progress.
For each student, teachers can now see:
- Number of sections completed (both cumulative and by week) ✅
- Average section score 🚥
- Total hours ⏳
- Average Up Score 📈
- And much more…
You can also now download a CSV of the data above aggregated at a class level.
2. Understand and celebrate student progress
Creating student and class report cards has never been so easy – simply head to your student leaderboard and choose between CSV and Excel download.
3. Self-service data management
It’s now easier to ensure the right students and teachers have access to Up Learn.
Using self-service teachers can now:
- Edit email addresses – for example, if the wrong email is pulled from the school’s MIS
- Add teachers not associated with a class – for example, if a member of the SLT needs access.
- For schools that upload their data using CSV (not Wonde), it’s now possible to add and remove students from classes and courses.
To do this just head to the ‘Settings’ tab of your teacher dashboard. No more contacting our support team and waiting for them to update!
4. Notification of completed assignments
Teachers will now receive an email summarising which students have completed assignments by the deadline. If multiple assignments are due the same day this will be summarised in a single email.
5. Biology is now even better!
Teachers and students have been clear in their feedback – they love our Biology content but just want more of it! As a result, we’re adding quizzes to sections that were previously summary-only, so that students can more easily learn and test on every part of the course . By adding quizzes and improving the organisation of the course, this allows teachers to set assignments on all Y12 topics, with Year 13 assignment setting coming early in 2025.
On a practical level, users may notice 2 changes:
- Some quizzes have been relocated to their relevant sections, which can be found via the search bar 🔍
- This additional content may mean that student scores change. However, completing more activities will soon get it back up.
The good news is that following the addition of quizzes to the Y12 topics, the ability to set assignments on all Y13 topics will arrive by early 2025. Y13 topics with in-depth video questions remain able to be set.
The feedback we’ve received so far from teachers about the features launched in September has been overwhelmingly positive. With more content and even more improvements to come, we’re looking forward to the term ahead. If you’d like to find out more about how Up Learn can help you and your students – get in touch here
