Up Learn for 25/26: What’s new and what’s next for schools
In our recent webinar, Cath Bryant (Head of Sales) was joined by Toby Rowe-Smith (Head of Product) to explore how Up Learn is evolving to better support schools.
The session offered a practical look at new and upcoming developments designed to:
- save teachers time
- support student progress
- provide clearer insight for school and trust leaders.
Whether you’re already using Up Learn or exploring it for the year ahead, this article walks through how the platform is becoming even more teacher-friendly, leadership-aligned, and a powerful tool to support independent learning.
Making life easier for teachers
Up Learn was originally built with students in mind. As demand from schools grew, so did requests for new tools and functionality: teachers were asking for features that improved visibility, reduced admin, and made it easier to embed Up Learn into everyday practice.
- New assignment setting: Teachers can now assign work to multiple classes in a few clicks – with estimated timings, due dates, and the ability to preview content.
- Automated tracking: Instead of chasing, teachers now receive summary emails on due dates, showing exactly who’s completed work and where students are struggling.
- Overdue alerts: The teacher dashboard now includes prominent alerts and downloadable lists of overdue tasks – helping teachers intervene faster and with less admin.
These improvements are part of a broader move to make Up Learn not just student-friendly, but teacher-centric. From saving time to simplifying daily routines, every new feature is built to fit into real classroom practice.

Surfacing insights that matter
Up Learn has also taken significant strides in data and reporting. The redesigned Performance Page gives a clear, at-a-glance view of both class and individual progress.
This means teachers can:
- Quickly identify which topics students are struggling with
- Spot learning gaps at both group and individual level
- View student performance on specific quizzes and questions – without digging through multiple pages
In the coming academic year, Up Learn’s product team is focused on improving the dashboard for MATs, giving trust leaders clearer insights to support oversight and strategic planning.
These updates build on earlier developments in the School Dashboard, which was designed to offer sharper oversight for Heads of Department and SLT. The result? Insight that’s accessible, actionable, and genuinely useful at every level of a school.
Growing and refining the content
While school focused functionality has been the major priority this year, Up Learn continues to invest in the heart of the platform: the content itself.
Here’s a glimpse at what’s improved:
- Maths refresh: Over 2,000 questions have been reviewed and refined, streamlining the learning path and making it easier for students to master core concepts quickly.
- Psychology expansion: New content now covers key Paper 3 topics such as Forensic Psychology and Relationships – ensuring full syllabus support for A Level students.
- Smarter assessments: Quiz coverage is now broader, with better marking accuracy even for complex, open-ended responses – giving both students and teachers more reliable feedback.
As highlighted in our feature and content roundup, every update is shaped by teacher feedback and grounded in Up Learn’s learning science principles – ensuring content not only aligns with the curriculum but is also designed to boost long-term retention and outcomes.
Looking ahead, development is already underway for GCSE Science (AQA Combined), with additional subjects being explored in response to growing school demand. As the platform evolves, the focus remains clear: high-quality, research-backed content that helps every learner thrive.
Building for the future
As schools face increasing demands for data security, parental engagement, and seamless integration, Up Learn has taken major steps to future-proof the platform – not just with new features, but with deeper functionality and trust-level compliance.
This includes:
- Single sign-on (SSO): Making logins easier, faster, and more secure – particularly useful for large schools and multi-academy trusts.
- Cyber Essentials certification: Ensuring the platform meets national standards for cyber security, giving schools confidence in their data protection protocols.
- Optional parent/guardian email updates: These provide insight into student progress, encouraging more meaningful support from home and a stronger school-parent partnership.
It’s about giving schools a fully integrated, future-ready platform that supports every stakeholder in a student’s journey.
