Cath Bryant
Head of School Partnerships
Ark Walworth Academy has used Up Learn since 2017. In that time, they've built one of the most structured accountability models we've seen in any partner school, and the results speak for themselves: 72% of last year's leavers progressed to a top-third UK university, more than double the national average.
Join us on Wednesday 24 September at 4:30 pm for a 30-minute webinar where Carl Fazackerley shares exactly how his team embeds Up Learn across A Level subjects, what the data shows, and what other schools in the Ark network have taken from their approach.
If you're planning your sixth form's independent study strategy for next year, this is worth 30 minutes of your time.
What you'll get from this webinar
The accountability model you can borrow
Carl walks through the weekly cycle his team built around Up Learn: structured pre-learning ahead of every lesson, dashboard reviews, direct follow-up with students who fall short, and parent contact where needed. It's a practical, replicable system you can take and apply in your own sixth form.
What the data shows
An internal Ark review found that students who completed the platform in full, or reached mastery in at least 20 sections, achieved on average half a grade higher than those who didn't. Carl shares how he uses that data to pinpoint classroom interventions, what he's noticed about engagement among students with high absenteeism, and why Refresh Knowledge sets Up Learn apart from other platforms he's tried.
How this scales across a trust
Other schools in the Ark network have since adopted Walworth's model. Carl discusses what that looks like in practice, how Up Learn supports consistency across departments, and why the platform reduces reliance on subject-specialist recruitment without reducing teaching quality.

About Ark Walworth Academy
Ark Walworth Academy is a secondary school and sixth form in South London, part of the Ark network. The school serves a cohort with significantly higher than average rates of free school meal eligibility, and few students have access to private tutoring. Despite this, 72% of last year's leavers progressed to a top-third UK university, more than double the national average.
'Up Learn is unique in the fact there are active recall quizzes, in-depth Chemistry videos and one-to-one tutor support whenever they are available. I got A* in Biology and A in Chemistry.'
