UP LEARN WEBINAR

Helping students to manage exam anxiety

Understanding, recognising and supporting students in KS4 & KS5

In the build-up to GCSE and A level exams, exam anxiety can become a significant challenge for many students, and for the teachers and school leaders supporting them.

This evidence-based webinar is designed to help schools better understand, identify and respond to exam anxiety, with practical strategies that can be applied immediately in school settings.

What you’ll learn

In this session, Professor David Putwain explores:

  • How exam anxiety can be identified in students
  • How common severe exam anxiety really is
  • How exam anxiety affects attainment, wellbeing and mental health
  • What schools and teachers can do to support highly exam-anxious students

Meet the speaker

Professor David W. Putwain

Professor of Education, Liverpool John Moores University

Professor Putwain taught in school sixth forms and colleges from 1994 to 2006 before moving into academia.

His research focuses on how psychological factors influence learning and achievement, with a particular interest in exam anxiety and interventions to support students effectively.

He is Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Educational Psychology.

Up Learn has helped my son achieve his goals – he said he found the approach different and fresh, making it a shake-up from school lessons. This meant that he found ways of learning that really worked for him. Communication with him and myself was very good because of Up Learn.
