A limitation of social learning theory is that we can’t use the scientific method to study mediational processes. This is because these mediational processes aren’t directly observable, and unlike the cognitive approach, social learning theory doesn’t offer any other method of testing these processes scientifically. This all means that we can’t make any reliable predictions about observational learning!

Now , one of the main approaches to psychology is called cognitive neuroscience , which is sort of a combination of the cognitive and biological approaches.
Finally, we’ve also looked at two other responses to the behaviourist approach: Albert Bandura’s social learning theory , and the humanistic approach to psychology .
Now, in Paper 2, you’ll also need to be able to evaluate and compare each of these approaches.
And so, in this section, we’re going to look at how to get those tasty evaluation marks for each approach.
But first, we need to look briefly at four different ways we can compare the approaches.
And we’ll go through all four of these next, starting with free will vs determinism .
